Salem News

- Rebecca Sole, Avendale Avenue, East Liverpool, reported at 5:04 a.m. Friday she was delivering newspapers when she struck a tree limb on Furnace Road, which may have caused her transmission to lose fluid. When she got to Gamble Road, the transmission quit working and her vehicle was left disabled.

- Brent and Kaitlyn Horsley, Sunset Drive, Hanoverton, reported at 11:10 p.m. Thursday they locked themselves into a room due to an aggravated family member with a knife. Deputies arrived to find Thomas E. Russell, who was extremely intoxicated and claimed nothing was going on except an argument. The couple told deputies Russell, who is Kaitlyn's father, began slamming on the bedroom door, calling her names and when she attempted to leave the bedroom to go to the bathroom he reportedly pulled out a kitchen knife, pointed it at her and threatened to kill her. Russell also reportedly threatened to knock Brent Horsley out and kill him. Russell denied the allegations, was charged with domestic violence and transported to the county jail.

- Susan Cooper, state Route 39, Wellsville, reported at 2:01 p.m. Thursday she leased property. Another woman who continued to keep her horse in a stall there was told to leave the property with her horse. Cooper claims the other woman responded by grabbing her hair and pulling her to the ground. Cooper did not want to file charges, only asking deputies to make the other woman leave.

- Lisa Darrah of Ohio Pet Food, Industrial Park Drive, Lisbon, reported at 10:50 a.m. Thursday a person who applied at the business for a job and was not hired has been calling threatening to turn the business in with OSHA. Darrah told deputies employees have told him several times to stop calling. Deputies called the number provided and spoke with a man, who claimed to be the brother of the person Darrah spoke about. He told deputies his brother is out of town and he now has the phone his brother had been using so there will be no more problems with anyone using it.
