Providing warmth to area residents

November 3, 2013
Salem News

Realife Church volunteers from left, Valerie Burke, Lisa Hoch and Jane Slagle sort through winter hats during the fifth annual Warm-Up Salem coat distribution sponsored Saturday at Centennial Park. This was the first year the Hannah E. Mullins School of Practical Nursing participated, offering blood sugar and blood pressure screenings and lessons on oral hygiene, hand hygiene and healthy eating. They gave away toothbrushes, toothpaste, hand sanitizer and fruit. Youth Pastor Jonathan Dickenson said it is an awesome addition to the coat drive. The cooking crew on hand expected to go through 500 hot dogs and 150 pounds of potatoes for french fries for the free lunch provided to coat recipients. (Salem News photo by Mary Ann Greier)
