New faces on school boards

Incumbents remain on the school board at West Branch, but new faces abound in other area districts, according to complete but unofficial results.

West Branch voters elected incumbents John Wallace and Earl Trimmer with Eric Glista. Wallace was the top vote getter with 1,872 combined in Mahoning and Columbiana counties, while Glista took the third seat, outpacing Glenda Sharp by 88 votes.

In the United district voters chose former superintendent RuthAnn Rinto and former teacher Wendy Doyle with incumbent Mike Phillis. Rinto was the top vote getter with 1,291 while Phillis took the third seat by 54 over incumbent Sue Drotleff.

Leetonia voters selected former board member Larry Duko and newcomer Michael Henderson with incumbent Michael Rulli. Rulli was the top vote getter with 589 votes combined Columbiana and Mahoning counties while Henderson took the third seat by 43 votes over Rose Barkett. Incumbent John Rydarowicz, who currently resides outside the district, finished last with 153 votes and had previously stated he intends to resign his seat.
