Church Women United to meet Monday

SALEM - Church Women United will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. The guest speaker is Janice Lesher of the Salem Historical Society. Women from the Emmanuel Lutheran and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church will serve as hostesses.

Banquet in Salem to feature grilled chicken

SALEM - The Banquet in Salem will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St. Next week's sponsor is the Salem Junior and Senior High staff. The menu offers tomato soup, grilled chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, sheet cake and pie.

Pavers still offered for Reilly park area

SALEM - The Reilly Project is completed, but the committee will continue to sell pavers for the Dedication Park area at Reilly Stadium. They make a great gift to give in honor or memory of a friend or loved one. Forms available at Hibbetts, BB Rooners and Giant Eagle, Karen Carter at 330-332-4959 or the Graphic Touch/Print Shop at 330-337-3341. Pavers sell for $100 and $150.

Blood drive set at Alliance hospital

ALLIANCE - Alliance Community Hospital will host an American Red Cross blood drive from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 5 in conference room 1-A at the hospital, 200 E. State St. Donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 years with parental consent), weigh no less than 110 pounds and be in generally good health. A photo ID or Red Cross donor card is required at registration. Donors are encouraged to drink additional fluids at least 24 hours prior to the drive and eat a meal before donating. Christmas boutique set at Salem church

SALEM - The women of the First United Methodist Church are hosting a Christmas boutique from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 6 and 7 at the church, 244 S. Broadway Ave.

A soup and sandwich lunch will be available on Friday. A cookie walk is planned on Saturday. Decorated wreaths, gift baskets, gift items, children's gift items, centerpieces and decorated trees, etc., will be available. All old and new items have been donated by members of the church. All proceeds from the sale will be applied to the capital improvements fund. For more information call Norma Byers at the church at 330-337-9531.

Lisbon shade tree panel needs members

LISBON - The Lisbon Shade Tree Commission is looking to expand its citizen membership by four. The commission consists of four village officials and four citizens who hold the leadership positions. Secretary Alisa Gostey said they are looking for four more citizen members to help with the work load, and anyone interested in serving should contact her at village hall.
