Chinese relaxation therapy to be offered

December 10, 2013

SALEM - The Chinese have always been known in the art of relaxation therapy.

The therapy goes back over 4,000 years with the Chinese who learned that when points on the body are touched, a certain effect would occur every time.

When Peter Lee grew up in China, he attended school and studied this ancient art and practice in which the Chinese followed the maps of the thousands of tiny nerves called reflexes that are in the entire body and correspond to every organ and system.

Lee lived in the Guangdong Province and worked in Boardman before deciding to open Peter Lee Chinese Relaxation Therapy at 1070 E. State St. in Salem, which opens on Friday.

Lee explained that pressing on these reflex points can create amazing results (every time); it can reduce stress, revitalize and balance energy and create an overall sense of well being.

The relaxation therapy makes contact with certain points which follow a channel called a meridian.

Flowing through the meridians is the energy of our life force, Lee explained.

The Chinese discovered the energy must flow evenly through the meridians to maintain good health.

"They have achieved amazing results by stimulating points along the meridian," he said.

The therapy can relieve sinuses, back and neck pain and is administered with the person either sitting in a chair or lying on a table.

"Relaxation therapy is designed for the whole body," he said, "neck, feet or combinations."

It is hands-on relaxation therapy and not a massage.

"Everyone likes to call it massage," he said, "but it's relaxation therapy."

Located next to the AT&T store the business will open on Friday and has gift certificates and special offers.

The sessions are broken down in to four types, relaxation on a chair, table, relaxation of the feet and combinations. Prices range from 10 minutes for $10 to an hour for $50.

No appointment is necessary but can be made by calling 330-280-1815.

Hours are Monday through Saturday from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Peter Lee Relaxation Therapy is closed on Sunday.
