SALEM- Ronald Allen Sox, 57, of Salem, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at his home.
Ron was born Oct. 26, 1956, in Salem, the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Lesick) Sox. He was a 1975 graduate of South Range High School.
Ron worked as a technical robotics expert for General Motors for 29 years. He began as a die maker at Gottschall Tool and Die in Salem and moved to GM as a Journeyman Die Maker in 1985. Through training and a unique ability, Ron helped establish a technical ISI robotics department at GM, which was responsible for maintaining Automated Stamping Press Lines. As technology advanced, so did Ron's responsibilities. Throughout his career Ron solidified himself as a valuable asset to the Tool and Die Department, the Stamping Facility and to General Motors. The contributions and processes Ron developed and implemented are used daily in the Stamping Plant's operations.
He enjoyed 4-wheeleres with his son where they were very successful and won numerous championships. Ron was also a member of the Competition Riders of America, as well as a member of the UAW.
Ron is survived by his son, Ryan Allen Sox of Alliance, who was his pride and joy; two brothers, a twin brother, Donald (Billie) Sox, and Kenneth (Sherry) Sox, both of Salem; and other family and friends.
Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by a brother, Richard P. Sox, and two sisters, Nancy Jean Sox and Nancy Jo (Sox) Graybeal.
Per Ron's request there will be no services.
