West Branch rallies over Marlington

ALLIANCE - The West Branch girls basketball team overcame a second quarter scare to defeat Marlington 52-40 in Northeastern Buckeye Conference action on Saturday.

The Warriors (7-1, 3-1) found trouble in the second quarter as the Dukes outscored the Warriors 22-5, giving the Dukes a 26-17 lead by halftime.

The Warriors dominated the second half with scoring from Melinda Trimmer, who led the Warriors with 17 points, and Amanda Linhart who scored 16.

The Dukes (4-4, 2-2) were led by Ali Rodgers with nine points followed by Morgan Penird with eight.

West Branch also won the junior varsity game 50-25.

The Warriors return to NBC action next Saturday to host Canton South.
