Pork chop dinner planned Saturday

WINONA - A baked pork chop dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the Family Life Center at the Winona Friends Church on Whinnery Road. The meal includes mashed potatoes, vegetable, rolls and dessert. Cost is $8. Carryouts are available. For information call the church at 330-222-0200.

Banquet to feature fried chicken

SALEM - The Banquet in Salem, sponsored next week by the Ruth Ozimek family in her memory, will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Memorial Building, 785 E. State St. The menu offers fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, peas or corn, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and ice cream sundaes.

Canfield AARP to meet Monday

CANFIELD - Canfield Area AARP #3104 will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at the Canfield Presbyterian Church. Blood pressure screenings will be available from noon to 12:45 p.m. Induction of officers will be held for 2014. Dave McClymonds of Classic Heritage Tours will be present to discuss upcoming bus trips and provide refreshments. There will be a bus trip to Benedum Theater to see the Gershwins' "Porgy and Bess" on March 1. Reservations must be made by Jan. 6 due to advance payment of tickets. Financial aid meeting set at EP High School

EAST PALESTINE -An informational meeting regarding financial aid for higher education will be held at 7 p.m. Jan. 8 in the East Palestine High School Media Center. Parents of students planning higher education are urged to attend. Information, forms and other materials regarding financial aid will be available.

Columbiana food distributions planned

COLUMBIANA - The Oasis Food Ministry is holding a food distribution from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 9 and 23 at the First Christian Church, 39 Cherry St.

Breakfast set at North Benton church

NORTH BENTON The public is invited to an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Jan. 11 at the North Benton Presbyterian Church. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3.50 for ages 6 to 12.

Financial Aid Night planned in Leetonia

LEETONIA - Columbiana, Crestview and Leetonia seniors and parents are invited to the 2014 Financial Aid Night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 8 in the band room at Leetonia High School. Lisbon radio group to meet Jan. 16

LISBON - The Lisbon Area Amateur Radio Association will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Columbiana County Emergency Management Agency, 215 S. Market St. Guests and new members are welcome.

Amateur radio testing begins at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 18 at the EMA. Registration starts at 1 p.m.

Fairfield Township Ruritans to meet

Bogart-Bacall films featured at library

LEETONIA- The Leetonia Community Public Library is celebrating Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall movies in January, showing the Phillip Marlowe classic, "The Big Sleep," at 2 p.m. Jan. 7 and "Dark Passage," a film noir about a prison escapee who is framed for murder, at 2 p.m. on Jan. 21.

"Despicable Me 2" is the featured family movie for the month to be shown at 1 p.m. on Jan. 25.
