Weight loss program set at Winona church
WINONA - The Winona United Methodist Church will begin a Christian-based weight loss program at 6 p.m. Jan. 13 in the church parlor. The Prism Weight Loss Program requires a six-week commitment and features a healthy, well balanced diet of non-processed foods. There are no weekly weigh-ins and there is no cost to participate. Fly-by carryout ham loaf dinner planned
SALEM - A "fly-by" carryout dinner will be sold from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 16 at the First Friends Church on Jennings Avenue. The meal includes glazed ham loaf, cheesy potatoes, seasoned green beans, roll and homemade cake. Cost is $8 each. Reservations in advance may be made by calling the church office at 330-332-0001.
Chicken drive-by dinner set in Leetonia
LEETONIA - The Leetonia United Methodist Church at 50 Lisbon St. will hold its monthly chicken drive-by from 4 to 6 p.m., Jan. 16, or until sold out. The meal consists of a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7. Proceeds will be used for the new roof at the church.
Missionary family to speak in East Fairfield
EAST FAIRFIELD - On World Gospel Missionaries will present the Metz family: Nathan, Jade, Maddix, Sophie, Ezra and Ruby, on Jan. 19 at the East Fairfield United Methodist Church. Nathan and Jade Metz are missionaries to Uganda. They will share the following message in their testimony: "God doesn't always speak to us in flashes of light or booms of thunder. Sometimes we have to wait for the noise to subside so that we can hear His voice in a soft whisper. Such is the case in our calling." A breakfast begins at 8 a.m. followed by a worship service at 9:30 a.m. and Sunday school.
Grief support group to meet in North Lima
NORTH LIMA - The "Walking Through Grief, Finding Your Path" support group will meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 23 at Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St. Evening groups will begin March 4, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Grief education and support will be offered by Jane Peachey, a licensed independent social worker and bereavement facilitator with over 18 years of experience working with issues of grief, loss and end of life.
