Young Conservatives Club to meet

BOARDMAN - The Young Conservatives Club plans to meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Mahoning County GOP, 621 Boardman-Canfield Road. This meeting is open to all interested conservatives of high school and college age. Refreshments will be served. For more information contact club president Tex Fischer at 330-501-0829.

Beaver Local BOE to meet Jan. 23

LISBON - The Beaver Local Board of Education will meet in special session at 6 p.m. Jan. 23 in the high school auditorium, 13187 state Route 7. The purpose of the meeting is to approve the resolution to proceed with the emergency levy.

Benefit pasta dinner set at Slovak Club

SALEM - A benefit pasta dinner for Doug Heath Jr. will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Slovak Club on South Ellsworth Avenue. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children under 10. There will be raffles and a 50/50.

Varsity Academic Challenge planned

COLUMBIANA - The Columbiana County Educational Service Center is coordinating the County Varsity Academic Challenge competition to be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Jan. 25 in The Commons at Columbiana High School.

For the 15th consecutive year, the CCESC will bring together Columbiana County high schools to compete in this day-long tournament, with one team emerging as county champion. That team will represent Columbiana County at the Regional Academic Competition on April 12 at Cloverleaf High School in Lodi. The state tournament is May 3 at St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus.

This marks the 36th year for this countywide challenge-the longest running academic competition of its kind in the state of Ohio. Friends, families and interested community members are invited to attend.

Music at the Meadows set Jan. 28

EAST PALESTINE - The public is invited to Music at the Meadows featuring entertainment provided by Mitch Lawrence, "A Tribute to Old Time Rock and Roll," at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at Covington Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, 200 Covington Drive. Trade show planned at Wellsville High

WELLSVILLE - The Wellsville Area Chamber of Commerce will host its fourth annual trade show from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 20 at Wellsville High School. Business networking is slated from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Businesses or organizations interested in participating as a vendor may submit or print an online application at www.wellsvilletradeshow.com. The registration fee is $20. Corporate sponsors are also being sought for this event. The two sponsorship levels are Silver ($50) and Gold ($100). The registration fee is waived for all sponsors.
