Quakers curb the Lions

SALEM-The Salem boys basketball team edged above .500 in conference play, beating Minerva 62-56 on Friday.

Max Wolfgang had 26 points to lead the Quakers who improve to 5-7 overall and 4-3 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference. Ryan Hoover chipped in 14 points and D.J. Pullie has nine points.

Jantsen Locke had a monster game for the Lions (3-9, 0-7), scoring 31 points.

Salem is at Louisville on Tuesday.

MINERVA SCORING: Austin Cattlett 0-2-2, Kristian Knight 2-1-5, Joe Gill 3-1-7, Jantsen Locke 6-13-31, Wylie Brown 1-0-2, Nick Clapper 4-1-9. TEAM TOTALS: 16, 18-27: 56.

SALEM SCORING: D.J. Pullie 4-1-9, Andrew Dolphin 0-3-3, Mike Ciotti 2-0-5, Mike Popa 1-0-2, Trey Toothman 1-0-3, Ryan Hoover 6-2-14, Max Wolfgang 10-5-26. TEAM TOTALS: 24, 11-17: 62.
