Salem reports

- Police in the 400 block of S. Ellsworth Avenue observed a vehicle operating in a reckless manner at 3:29 a.m. Saturday and knew the driver didn't have a license. Marvin W. Harsch, lka 1200 Oakwood Ave., Columbus, was charged with drug abuse instruments (M1) and drug paraphernalia (M4) and additional charges are pending. He was taken to the county jail on $1,250 bond.

- Police responded to N. Lundy Avenue and E. 3rd Street at 1:48 a.m. Saturday for a suspicious person in a black hoodie and ball cap who observed the complainant and ran behind a house. Police were unable to locate anyone.

- Police responded to the 400 block of Ohio Avenue at 1:54 a.m. Saturday for a report of a domestic situation in progress between a man and woman. They said there was no problem and the woman said she had yelled out a window.

- Police responded to the 2300 block of E. State Street at 2:21 a.m. where an interior motion alarm went off. The building was secure and a key holder failed to respond.

- Police responded to the 400 block of Aetna Street at 4:01 p.m. Friday where the complainant advised her adult son was intoxicated and inside the house. An officer stood by while she got her car keys from inside.

- Police took Robert K. Turner, III, 480 Franklin Ave., into custody at 5:39 p.m. Friday on an outstanding warrant from Columbiana County and turned him over to a sheriff's deputy.

- Police responded to the 1600 block of S. Lincoln Avenue at 4:08 p.m. Friday for a smoke investigation. Smoke was coming from a chimney at the rear of the residence and police spoke to the owner and cleared the call.

- Police responded to the 500 block of Franklin Avenue. at 8:25 p.m. Friday for a possible structure fire and stood by for traffic control for the fire department.

- Police responded to the 400 block of W. School Street at 7:52 p.m. Friday for a complainant of a dog at large. It was observed but police could not get close to it and the humane officer was called.

- Police responded to the 100 block of S. Lincoln Avenue at 1:42 p.m. Friday where the building owner advised his tenant was in Florida and he needed to contact him about a water problem related to the cold weather on his side of the building. He was advised it was a civil matter. He was advised if he was the owner and had to get in he could what was necessary and entry was gained. Police observed the ceiling was down on a table and the floor area. The water was shut off at the curb.

- Police received a report from the gas station in the 900 block of E. State Street at 2:14 p.m. Friday advising that a motorist in a newer model, silver Chevrolet pickup drove off without paying fro $45.04 in gas. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

- Police assisted Columbiana County deputies in serving an outstanding warrant in the 800 block of Summit St. at 2:36 p.m. Saturday where the man was located and taken to the county jail.

- A complainant was on station at 1:04 p.m. Saturday and advised that his locked vehicle was entered while in the high school parking lot Friday evening. Two bags of clothing and several prescription medications were taken. There was no sign of force entry.

- Robert McMaster, 7443 Spillway Road, #29, Lisbon, was stopped for a traffic violation at 4:54 p.m. Saturday and cited for non-compliance, driving under suspension and a red light violation.

Columbiana REPORTS

- A downed wire was reported behind the fire station at 2:08 p.m. Friday. A member of the electric department was notified.

- A woman reported at 2:21 p.m. Friday the gates at the South Main Street crossing had been lowered for the last two to three minutes without a train coming. The gates were up and found to be functional when check by police.

- Corinna Hall, East Palestine, was at a stop sign heading west at the intersection of state Route 14 and East Park Avenue at 6:04 p.m. Friday when she was rear-ended by Shelby Scyoc, Rogers. Scyoc was cited for assured clear distance.

- A Jeep was reported in a ditch on state Route 14 near McCloskey Road at 6:16 p.m. Friday. The highway patrol handled the matter, and said the vehicle to be towed since no property damage or vehicle damage took place.

- A suspicious vehicle was reported at the St. Mary's Alzheimer's Center on West Garfield Road at 1:59 a.m. Saturday. The vehicle was reportedly in the lot for five minutes.
