COLUMBIANA Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 24 at First United Church of Christ with Pastor Joshua Conley officiating for Judith McMurray, 73, who passed away Monday evening at the Cleveland Clinic.
Judith was born on Dec. 25, 1940 in Poland, the daughter of Michael and Katherine (Dressel) Lossick, and was a lifelong area resident.
A 1958 graduate of Leetonia High School, she received her Bachelors of Science in Education degree from Youngstown State University in 1974.
Judith was a first and second-grade teacher for Lisbon Exempted Village Schools for 29 years, retiring in 1998. She was awarded the Star Educator Award 10 years after her retirement.
She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Columbiana, where she served on the finance council, the funeral dinner committee, and many other church organizations.
Her passion in life was her grandchildren, and they held a special place in her heart.
Judith leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughter, Robinn McMurray of Coconut Creek, Fla.; her son, Christopher (Margaret) McMurray of Ravenna; three grandchildren, Daniel, Connor, and Sean McMurray; two brothers, Michael Lossick of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Edward Lossick of Grove City, Ohio; and a sister, Marta Sevenich of Leetonia.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dale, whom she married on March 18, 1959 and who died on May 15, 1997; and her dear friend, Thomas Rutzky.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana and also one hour prior to the services at 9 a.m. Friday at the church.
