Warming center to open in Alliance
ALLIANCE - The American Red Cross of Northeast Ohio announced a warming center opens today at Alliance Resource Center, 234 S. Arch St. The warming center will be open during business hours, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and offers an opportunity for community members to come in out of the cold. No meal services are included.
Pancake breakfast planned in Homeworth
HOMEWORTH - The public is invited to the Homeworth Fire and North Georgetown Fire Department's annual buffet-style pancake community breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 2 at the Homeworth Fire Station, 4354 Middle St. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for ages 6 to 12 and free for 5 and under and also emergency personnel.
Benefit breakfast set at Sebring Legion
SEBRING - A benefit breakfast and 50/50 drawing for the Sebring V-Twin Cruiser's Motorcycle Club will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 2 at the Sebring American Legion on California Avenue. Cost for the all-you-can-eat meal is $7 and includes coffee and juice.
Salem Relay meeting planned Feb. 6
SALEM - Salem Relay for Life Committee and team meeting starts at 6 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Salvation Army on North Ellsworth Avenue. New members and teams are welcome. The Salem Relay for Life runs June 13-14.
Seniors invited to Valentine's Pizza Party
SALEM - The Donald R. Cook family is inviting seniors age 55 and over to a Valentine's Pizza Party from noon to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 9 at Wedgewood Pizza in Salem. Skin cancer screening clinic planned
LISBON - A skin cancer screening clinic will be held on Feb. 18 at the Columbiana County Health Department, 7360 state Route 45.
Any Columbiana County resident with a suspicious lesion such as a sore that will not heal, a mole or wart that has changed, a change in color pigmentation of the skin, or any skin abnormality may be seen at this clinic, free of charge. Appointments may be made by calling 330-424-0272.
Salem adult book discussion group to meet
SALEM - The debut book by Julie Kibler titled "Calling Me Home" will be discussed when the adult book discussion group meets from 7 to 8 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Quaker Room at the Salem Public Library. The story focuses on the lives and relationships of two women interwoven with secrets and choices in their lives that may significantly affect their futures. Attendance is open to the public and free of cost. Registration is not required. Copies of the book are available from the adult services department in advance of the meeting.
