Benefit for Nign family planned
EAST LIVERPOOL - A benefit pasta luncheon for the Nign family will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Ohio Valley College of Technology, 15258 state Route 170. Cost is $5 per person. Game Day Program set in Columbiana
COLUMBIANA -The Columbiana Public Library is having a Game Day Program for students in grades five to 12 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. No registration is necessary. It's not too late to join the Chips and Chatter Book Club for teens in grades six to eight. The next meeting runs from 4 to 5 p.m. Feb. 18.

Johnny Wright benefit planned Feb. 22
SALEM - The Johnny Wright benefit will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Salem AMVETS Post 45, 750 S. Broadway Ave. A spaghetti dinner will be served. Cost is $7 adults and $4 for children 10 and under. There also will be a Chinese auction and bake sale. Entertainment is planned from 9 p.m. to midnight with music provided by Ruckus.
McVicker scholarship breakfast set
SEBRING - The LCpl Daniel McVicker scholarship breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon March 2 at the American Legion, 395 W. California Ave.
The all-you-can-eat meal includes eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, french toast, pancakes, sausage gravy and biscuits, hash browns, juice and coffee. Cost is $7 per person.
Lily Pond closed to ice skaters
YOUNGSTOWN - Due to the warmer temperatures over the past 24 hours, Mill Creek MetroParks officials have decided to close the Lily Pond to skaters until further notice. The safety of visitors is of the utmost importance. Officials are hoping that below freezing temperatures over the next week will permit them to open the Lily Pond to skaters next weekend. Mill Creek MetroParks officials would also like to remind visitors that due to the fluctuating temperatures, trails throughout the MetroParks might be slippery. Visitors and hikers should use caution when on these trails.
Soup sale planned at Calla church
