Port Authority grants 2% raises to non-salaried workers

EAST LIVERPOOL - The Columbiana County Port Authority's four non-salaried employees were granted 2 percent pay raises at Monday's board meeting.

The raises were granted to reflect cost of living increases, according to Fiscal Officer Penny Traina. Included in the motion was an 8 percent pay increase for Glenda Shafer to reflect additional duties she has assumed in recent months.

The raises will cost the port authority an additional $4,940 per year.

The non-salaried employees received a 2 percent raise last year.

In other action, the board voted to institute a new purchase-order policy requiring employees to first obtain certification that sufficient money is available before making a purchase. Port CEO Tracy Drake said the state auditor's office has cited them in 19 consecutive annual audits for failing to have such a policy in place.

Also, board President Charlie Presley and Vice President Keith Chamberlin were re-elected to another term.
