BLUFFTON - Kathryn Mae VanDyke, age 101, of Bluffton died 6:58 a.m., Tuesday, March 11 at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
She was born Feb. 3, 1913 in North Lima, Ohio to Jonas and Laura Longanecker Horst. She married Russell Pine June 30, 1938 and he preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1975. She married John VanDyke in 1990 and he preceded her in death 1999.
Kathryn had been a teacher in the Columbiana area. She was a longtime member of Zion Hill Church of the Brethren in Columbiana and its women's group.
Survivors include three children, Linda (Lynn) Miller of Bluffton, Robert (Joan) Pine of The Villages, Fla., and Dr. Richard (Carol) Pine of Broadview Heights, Ohio; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Elva Huffman of Columbiana, Ohio, and Hazel Kurtz of Verona, Wisc.
She was preceded in death by eight siblings including Myron, Galen, Arthur, Waldo, Robert and Howard Horst; and, Mildred Snyder and Esther Ernst.
A memorial service will be held at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren at 11 a.m. on April 12. Burial of cremated remains will be in Zion Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Columbiana, Ohio.
