Salineville - Gale McVay Jr, 82, of Foundry Hill died Saturday afternoon at Salem Community Hospital.
Gale was born June 21, 1931, a son of the late Gale and Tressal (Homan) McVay.
Gale lived all his life in this area, working as a contractor, with his last employment being at the Auto Mall in Hanoverton. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Louisville, Ohio, a past Salineville City Council member, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife Deloris Boso McVay, whom he married in 1963; one sister, Amee June Rappert of Warren, Ohio; one brother, Pat McVay of Salineville; three daughters, Patti McVay of Salineville, Pam (Tom) Crawford of Salineville, and Kim (Jon) Sabatino of Millport, Ohio; four sons, David McVay of Salem, Brian "Bones" (Kim) McVay of East Liverpool, Tim McVay of Salineville, and Mike (Amy) McVay of Salineville; a brother-in-law Gary (Shirley) Skinner of Salem; 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Kenneth and Donald McVay; and one sister, Arleen McVay.
A service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday April 1, 2014 at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Deem of the Louisville Assembly of God Church officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the Salineville John Adams Post 442 American Legion Honor Guard.
Family and friends may call at the Kerr-Pastore Funeral Home in Salineville on Tuesday from 3-6 p.m.
