SRMC Auxiliary will meet April 10
SALEM The Salem Regional Medical Center Auxiliary meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. April 10 at the SRMC Tower Conference Room.
The guest speaker is Salem Police Chief J.T. Panezott. The public is invited.
Benefit spaghetti dinner planned at Elks
SALEM - A benefit spaghetti dinner is slated from 3 to 7 p.m. April 12 at the Elks Lodge on East State Street.
Proceeds benefit Team Clayton and The Walk Now for Autism Speaks on June 14 in Pittsburgh.
Cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 4 to 7. There also will be a 50/50 drawing, Chinese auction and bake sale.

Calby returning to Wellness Wednesday
SALEM - Kathleen Calby returns at 6:30 p.m. April 9 as part of the library's Wellness Wednesday series at the Salem Public Library. Her program is geared to reduce stress and deepen relaxation.

Spaghetti dinner will benefit Floor family
EAST PALESTINE - A spaghetti dinner benefit for the Floor family will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. April 26 at the Moose Lodge, 43 W. Rebecca St.
In addition to spaghetti, the meal includes salad, bread, pop, water, coffee and dessert. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. Carryouts are available.
All proceeds from the benefit will go toward helping Jim and Melinda Floor and their baby, Braxton James Floor, who is due May 15.
Braxton was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and will require immediate open heart surgery after birth to start the correction of his underdeveloped heart. There will also be a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle.
Angels for Animals hosting garage sale
CANFIELD - Angels for Animals is hosting its 20th anniversary garage sale at the Canfield Fairgrounds. The event offers furniture, books, toys, small appliances, antiques, clothing, glassware, jewelry, food, a Chinese raffle and 50/50 raffle.
The public is invited from 10 a.m. to noon April 25, admission $5; noon to 6 p.m. April 25 and10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 26, admission $1; 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 27, free admission and everything 50 percent off; and 3:15 to 5 p.m. April 27 with $5 and $10 clearance sale deals.
Donations for the sale are accepted from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 21-24.
April 15 deadline to apply for assistance
LISBON - April 15 is the last day to apply for Emergency Home Energy Assistance. The Winter Crisis Program provides assistance to low-income households that have had utilities disconnected, face a utility shut-off, or heat with bulk fuel and have a tank that is 25 percent or less of its capacity.
The last days of WCP will be walk-ins only. Appointments are no longer being made for the Winter Crisis Program. All clients are seen on a first come, first serve basis beginning at 8 a.m., and the last walk-in must be signed in by 2 p.m. Numbers will not be distributed, therefore, clients will not be allowed on the premises prior to opening; there will be no trespassing from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
If you have applied between Nov. 1, 2013, and March 15, 2014, and your application was left in "pending" status, you must re-apply for Winter Crisis Benefits, as applications are only active for 30 days.
Clients are only eligible for Winter Crisis assistance once during the 2013/14 season. Any household with a member who is classified as permanently and totally disabled must provide proof at the time of the interview.
All applicants must provide proof of gross, household income for the previous 90 days or 12 consecutive months, Social Security numbers, utility bills, lease agreement/rent receipt, and birth dates for all members of the household. Household income eligibility is based at 175 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. For more information call 330-424-4013.

SCC offering six-week swim clinic
SALEM - The Salem Community Center is offering a six- week swim clinic April 15 through May 22, from 5 to 6 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday.
The goal of the clinic is to prepare swimmers for the upcoming summer swim season. Cost is $60 for members and $80 for non-members. To sign-up call 330-332-5885.
