LISBON - Dr. Rolan J. "Lan" Bingham, 74, died Tuesday at his home with his wife, Ina, by his side following a short illness.
Dr. Bingham was born Oct. 14, 1939 in Canton, a son of the late William J. and Anne Jane (Bonsky) Bingham and was raised in the Hartville, Ohio area.
Dr. Bingham was a graduate Mount Union College and the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was a family physician and went on to become a radiologist. He enjoyed his private practice at Fireland's Hospital in Sandusky from 1985 to 1999. Retiring in 2000, he found that he missed his work, so he returned part-time, working in Florida, and then back to the East Liverpool City Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Ina Marie (Sauer) Bingham; daughters, Carrie Marie Bingham of Huron, Ohio and Lisa M. (Keith) Glass of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; sons, Brandon John Bingham of Sandusky, David (Jackie) Swiers of Vermilionand Lon Albert (Alexis) Swiers of Valdosta, Ga.; brother, Kevin John Bingham of Sandusky; two biological granddaughters and nine grandchildren from his union with Ina.
Following his wishes, no public calling hours or funeral services will be observed.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Valley for their compassion and tender care during Lan's final days.
Memorial contributions in Dr. Bingham's name be made to the donor's favorite charity, Mount Union College, or to Hospice of the Valley.
