McKinley Elementary students wins State Fire Prevention Poster Contest

April 27, 2014
Salem News

Katie Hawthorne from McKinley Elementary won the State Fire Prevention Poster Contest. Her poster was entered in the kindergarten-third grade division with other students from all over Ohio. The Division of State Fire Marshal conducted its annual statewide poster contest. The purpose of the contest is to recognize individuals who have demonstrated an understanding of the issues related to the fire safety education and that have an ability to visually portray that knowledge. Although the contest took place during Fire Prevention Week in October, she received her special recognition this spring. Pictured with Katie are, from left, Tim Royer, state fire marshall; Dave Lewton, chief of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department; and Doug Rohm and Mike Smith, Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department members.
