A Memorial Day program begins at 11 a.m. May 25 at Ellsworth Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9571.
Memorial Day services will be held on Sunday, May 18, in Hanoverton. The United High School band will lead the parade to Betz Park for the service at 2 p.m.
The Rev. Tom Allmon will give the invocation. The featured speaker will be United Local Superintendent Steve Viscounte. The Gettysburg Address will be delivered by Travis Miller. In the event of rain, services will be held in the Hanoverton Presbyterian Church.
The Salem Memorial and Patriotic Association has announced that Salem's 150th Memorial Day activities will be held on May 26.
The day commences with a free breakfast at 8 a.m. at the Memorial Building at 785 E. State St. for all veterans and invited guests participating in the parade. The breakfast will be hosted by the association.
A city-wide memorial service will be conducted at 9 a.m. on the Village Green, located at the southeast corner of Lincoln and State Street.
The line-up for the Memorial Day Parade is at 9:30 a.m. on South Broadway Avenue. The parade commences at 10 a.m. and will proceed from Broadway to State Street, Lincoln Avenue, to Hope Cemetery. A formal ceremony will be conducted at the cemetery with full military honors at approximately 11 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the memorial service will be conducted at the Kent State University City Center at 230 N. Lincoln Ave.
All units that participated in the parade last year are registered for this year's parade. Any new units must call 330-332-9810 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org no later than May 13 in order to be scheduled in the Memorial Day parade.
The Winona Memorial Day Parade steps out at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18. The line-up begins at 2:30 p.m. at Winona Hall Park. A memorial service will be held after the parade at Glenn Bennett Memorial Park. For more information call 330-429-4249.
