United Athletic Booster Club set today
HANOVERTON - The United Athletic Booster Club (UABC) will hold its membership drive this morning. Student athletes will be contacting community residents and asking them to join the UABC. The cost of a family membership is $10 and single membership is $5. Those joining will receive a United decal. VFW Gold Star Auxiliary to install officers
SALEM - Officers will be installed when Gold Star Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 892 meets at 6:30 p.m. May 19 at the post on Arch Street. Preparations will also be made for the Memorial Day observation.
West Branch board to meet Tuesday
BELOIT - The West Branch Local Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the high school media room, 14277 Main St. The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the recent defeat of the 3/4 of 1 percent School District Income Tax and the financial impact on West Branch Local Schools. No action to be taken. There will also be an executive session to consider the employment and compensation of a public employee. No action to be taken.
Concealed carry class offered May 22, 24
LISBON - A two-day concealed carry pistol class from 6 to 10 p.m. May 22 and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 24 is being offered by the Columbiana County Fish and Game Club at its indoor range at 45716 Middle Beaver Road. Dance planned at Saxon Club May 24
SALEM - The public is invited to a dance on May 24 at the Saxon Club, 1980 state Route 9. Doors open at 5 p.m. Line dancing begins at 7 p.m. with music throughout the evening. Music by Borderline is slated from 9 p.m. to midnight. Borderline is a country southern rock band from northeast Ohio. Admission is $5 per person. A full cash bar and food, including sloppy joes, pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, chili dogs, German potato salad, macaroni salad and veggies, will be available for purchase. Damascus Ruritan Club plans rabies clinic
DAMASCUS - The Damascus Ruritan Club will hold its bi-annual rabies clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. May 24 at the Damascus Fire Department's meeting room on state Route 534 with Dr. Jack Zines. All dogs must be on leashes and cats in cages. Cost is $8 per animal. Proceeds are used toward the club's youth programs.
Food drive set in Damascus May 24
DAMASCUS - Area residents are urged to participate in the Nourish Our Community non-perishable food drive from 9 a.m. to noon May 24 sponsored by the Damascus Ruritan Club. The collection (drop off) point is the Damascus Post Office parking lot. The food collected will be shared with three local food pantries, the Damascus Friends Church, Pine Lake Christian Church and Bethel United Church of Christ, for distribution to families in need. Monetary donations will also be accepted. Checks may be made out to the Damascus Ruritan Food Drive and dropped off or sent to P.O. Box 94, Damascus 44619-0094.
Reunion dinner planned by Elks Auxiliary
