LEETONIA Teresa Catherine Simonds, 78, of Leetonia, died at 10:35 a.m. Sunday, May 18, 2014 at the Salem Regional Medical Center.
Teresa was born April 7, 1936 in Leetonia, the daughter of the late John and Madalene Walzer Orincsak and had lived in this area all her life.
She had worked as a loan grant coordinator for over 28 years at Bleckman and Associates in North Canton, retiring in 2006. She was also the owner/operator of Rainbow Lakes Camp Ground in Franklin Square.
Teresa was active with the National Audubon Bird Society in Salem. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia where she also belonged to the LCBA Branch #909 and the Mission Society. Teresa loved gardening and cultivated over 200 different varieties of daylilies. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and being a grandma.
She is survived by her husband, John C. Simonds, whom she married Oct. 8, 1955; a daughter, Susan (Justin) Fader of Leetonia; a son, John Mark Simonds of Leetonia; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Simonds of Fredonia, Pa.; two sisters, Patricia Dattilio of Columbiana and Margaret (David) Wilkinson of North Canton; four grandchildren, Sherry (Sam) Jennings of Salem, Shelly (Mark) vonVital of Bellevue, Pa., Sarah Simonds and Shauna Simonds both of Leetonia; six great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother, John Orincsak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Leetonia with the Rev. Stephen Wassie officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Leetonia. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Woods-Rettig Funeral Home, Leetonia.
