GREENFORD - Green Township trustees said they want to purchase a diesel-powered mower this time, Trustee Chairman Dave Slagle said.
During Tuesday's meeting trustees discussed replacing a gas-powered Steiner mower with a 50-inch cut with a new diesel-powered mower for about $10,000.
Slagle said with an all-hydraulic diesel mower they will go about twice as far on a gallon of fuel.
"We mow three cemeteries, the park, the square and around the community building," Slagle said, adding it amounts to about 20.5 hours a week in the summer not including road sides.
The old mower will be taken to the Rogers political sub-division sale on July 23 to be sold.
In other business, trustees opted to change the direction of the recycling bins at the center behind the fire department. They currently face east and west and will switched so they face north and south.
Also, one firefighter resigned from the Greenford Fire Department for personal reasons, Slagle said.
The trustees also discussed the Memorial Day Parade that will assemble at 8:30 in the Christian Church parking lot.
Anyone who wants to enter a float should arrive at that time.
The parade begins at 9 a.m. and will proceed to the square where former U.S. Marine Wayne Wilt will be the keynote speaker.
