Appreciates upkeep of township roads
To the editor:
Butler Township Roads - Having experienced extended harsh cold temps this past winter, our area roads were damaged more severely than normal. This spring as in recent years past, the Butler Township Road Department promptly repaired the damage as the weather dictated with minimal equipment, and using their tapering technique producing the smoothest roadway repair possible.
I think the state, other counties, municipalities, and townships could learn a lot about how to properly repair potholes and road edge shoulder damage by checking out their work.
Kudos for a job well done Butler Township Road Department!

Rite Aid is losing ... the best Pharmacist Rite Aid has ever had. Ed Drotleff is retiring after 52 years of dedicated service.
Graduating from Salem High School in 1958, Ed went to study pharmacy at Ohio Northern University. Passing his state boards in 1962 he started working in Steubenville, Ohio, at what was the People's Drug Store. From there in 1966 he moved his family to East Liverpool, Ohio, to continue to work at People's Drug, where he remained for the next 48 years.
June 13th was the end of a wonderful career. Although the store has changed names several times through the years, Ed's compassion, dedication, and caring nature never changed for his customers. If your life crossed paths with Ed then stop in and wish him a great retirement.
We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give. (Winston Churchill) Ed Drotleff has been giving to this town for 48 years. He has gone out of his way to drop off prescriptions to many who couldn't come in to pick them up. He has answered call after call from people on the line who only want to speak with him. Giving his advice or helping the customer in any way he could, he stayed late many days just to catch up from a busy day.
Ed Drotleff, may you retire knowing you have made a remarkable contribution, and have touched the lives of so many. The community will miss you!
My dad, my hero, and the best role model a girl could ever have. A good husband, an awesome dad, a wonderful grandpa, and an outstanding great-grandpa.
Thank you for everything you have done for all of us.
We love you, congratulations, and have the best retirement ever! The golf course is waiting for you.

Obama dismantling our government
To the editor:
The Obama Administration treated us to a Rose Garden event unparalleled in its arrogance and symbolic malevolence toward all that America represents. As the co-opted and simpering American press watched, the President exploited the distraught parents of Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl, and hailed Bergdahl's release from the clutches of the jihadists who held him for five years in exchange for the unleashing of five notoriously dedicated terrorists, all fat and sassy straight out of Gitmo, upon the world scene.
But what America really witnessed was President Obama's continuing deliberate and traitorous dismantling of three of our four fundamental elements of national power: diplomacy, information and the military. The fourth element is economy, and if we try, we could likely make a case for that as well.
The tortured decision-making that led to the release of five prime enemies, who were each made fit and combat-ready compliments of the U.S. tax-payers, flies in the face of logic and of the U.S. national interest. Yet it follows a long pattern of policies favoring militant Islam over United States and world safety.
The Muslim Brotherhood long ago infiltrated our nation's capital, coming to settle in key executive branch advisory and appointed positions. The Muslim brotherhood, whose operatives now influence so many policy-level decision-makers across this administration, in fact are the ideological soulmates of the jihadis who captured Bergdahl.
The Obama administration used Qatar, a Taliban supporter and home-away-from-home for Yousef al-Qaradawi, the senior jurist of the Muslim Brotherhood, as a go-between to negotiate with the Taliban and Haqqanis. The Brotherhood influence was never more evident than in the Rose Garden act of prime time symbolic surrender, and very likely helped shape the terms of the GITMO detainee release.
That same influence was also at work in the days leading up to and during the Benghazi massacre, when four Americans were sacrificed to the jihad and to the overarching demands of the 2012 Presidential campaign. Jihad is alive and well in Washington, D.C.
The Sunday Rose Garden drama was a national tragedy: a clinic in strategic psychological operations. It was an Islamist demonstration of the level of control they exercise over the governance of the United States, through this president and his key advisors.
It is time for the American citizens to condemn the dismantling of our military while upgrading the militant forces of the jihadists.
We must condemn the media for its culpability in the active dis-informing and demoralizing of the American people.
We must also condemn the deliberate dismantling of American diplomatic image, credibility, and its hard-won standing as a bona fide champion for good around the world for the past century.
It is time for our senior military officers, in uniform and retired, to step up to the plate and be counted. Just as many of their warrior privates have done in these past days as they witness the daily dismantling of the Republic that has granted them the "special trust and confidence" of the American people.
We must vote "no confidence" in this administration and in its destructive policies.

The destruction of America continues
To the editor:
The donkey scat is scrambling to distract all of American and its time for "hope and change." Why? Because you need a choice. Not what the Democrats and their bureaucracy have forced upon us and lie to us about. A screaming boob for a Senate Majority leader who has nothing in common with America is aligned with the most destructive president ever known. Democrats rant and rave, they pontificate, procrastinate and pander, they strut and preen. Are you better off? Are you working? Is your American dream now just to stay alive in a world of socialist chaos? Perhaps you need to align with those who want America to succeed?
The media is full of the distractions of the Democrat talking points not the scandals and betrayal perpetrated by the Democrat. Do you actually believe that donkey excrement that the corruption doesn't really exist? That all decisions made by one man has made America stronger here and abroad?
If the progressive agenda is so wonderful why are 90 million out of work? Why is our nation's GDP at a negative? Why are the jobs being offered low paying and low skilled? Why do we need more H1 visas? Why is the American southern border flooded with the children of South American countries? How many rogue nations now plan to kidnap American citizens/soldiers to see what they can squeeze out of this Democrat government. Why has the EPA implementing policy that will close down coal fired power plants? America's northeast was one power plant away from a black out this last winter. Why are we in such sad shape with little hope?
The Democrats have done much to diminish America on the domestic front and internationally. Driven into debt (that pesky $17-plus trillion again) enslaving America's future generations and the Democrat believe the abortion industry has precedence over religious freedom. What future generations if the abortion industry expands? To buy votes it's free cheese, cell phones, welfare, and an educational system designed to fail. The demise of America is almost certain.
