Library hosting martial arts demonstration
LEETONIA- The Crystal Dragon Family Martial Arts Center will host a demonstration from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at the Leetonia Community Public Library.
The demonstration will include Goshin Jutsu Karate, Aiki Jutsu and Jujutsu techniques. All ages are welcome to attend.
Salem Saxon Club offering public breakfast
SALEM - An all-you-can eat breakfast will be served from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Salem Saxon Club, 1980 Newgarden Ave.
The menu offers sausage gravy and biscuits, bacon, sausage links, eggs, hash browns, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit and beverages. Cost is $6 for adults.
Public breakfast will be served Saturday
DAMASCUS - The public is invited to breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Damascus United Methodist Church. The suggested donation is $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10. The church is located at 300 Valley Road.
Quaker City Band will perform Sunday
SALEM - The Salem Quaker City Band will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday during the Summer Concert Series in the Orashan Memorial Civic Center band shell at Waterworth Memorial Park.
This concert will feature marches, pop tunes, and patriotic pieces. Tyler Husosky will be conducting the band. The Salem Quaker City Band has been in existence since 1896 and has quite a history, including playing for President McKinley's funeral and memorial dedication, disbanding during World War II, and winning state and national awards in the 1950s. The original band started with 13 members.
Today the band has 80-plus players from Salem and surrounding areas, ranging from high school students to senior citizens. The band is proud to be part of Salem and Salem history, and they have been working hard to provide an entertaining evening in the park. Attendees are remind to bring a lawn chair.
Mullins School holding info meeting
SALEM -Hannah E. Mullins School of Practical Nursing will hold an informational enrollment meeting at 2 p.m. June 23 in the Kent State University City Center at 230 N. Lincoln Ave., third floor.

Library offering free Girl Scout program
LISBON - A free Girl Scout summer program begins from 10 to 11 a.m. June 24 at the Lisbon Lepper Library. The program will continue for six weeks, offering crafts, games, songs and activities.
Food pantry open June 25 for EP residents
EAST PALESTINE - The food pantry at Grace Lutheran Church will be open to East Palestine School District residents from 9:30 to 11 a.m. June 25.
SRMC, Red Cross sponsoring blood drive
SALEM - To help meet the blood needs of area patients, Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) and the Salem Community Center are co-sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. June 27 at the Salem Community Center.
The American Red Cross has designated this drive a "Double Red" donation site, which means that individuals meeting certain criteria may elect to give two units of blood at one time.
Donors will receive a $10 off coupon for Cedar Point. Donors will also receive a free day pass to the Salem Community Center and will be registered in a drawing for a Das Dutch Haus gift certificate. For an appointment call 800-RED-CROSS.
Hospital Auxiliary sponsoring uniform sale
ALLIANCE -Alliance Community Hospital Auxiliary will sponsor a Robert's Uniforms sale from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 24 and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 25 in conference room 1-A at the hospital.
Proceeds will benefit the auxiliary which raises funds for special needs for the hospital in many different areas.
Historical Society plans strawberry festival
WINONA - The Winona Area Historical Society is hosting its third annual strawberry festival and homecoming on June 29.
There will be a combined church service from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on the Winona Friends Church lawn (bring chairs) with the festival continuing at the Glenn Bennett Memorial Playground.
Food and strawberries and ice cream will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event features live entertainment, antiques and historical artifacts on display and local artisans and craft demonstrations. The car show starts at noon followed by a live auction (see Kiko Auction website) at 2 p.m. Proceeds will be used in the restoration of the 1838 Meeting House.
Hanover Township trustees will meet
HANOVERTON - Hanover Township trustees will meet at 7:45 p.m. July 1 at the Hanover Township building to review and approve the FY 15 tax budget. The regular meeting follows.
Lincoln dramatization scheduled July 2
WINONA - A dramatization of events from the life of Abraham Lincoln will be presented at 7 p.m. July 2 at the Friends Meeting House.
Performed by John Paul Brantingham and sponsored by the Winona Area Historical Society, tickets are $5 for anyone over 12. Proceeds benefit the 1838 Meeting House Restoration Project.
The Bistro at MCC&TC open evenings
CANFIELD - The Adult Career Center students enrolled in the culinary restaurant management program at Mahoning County Career and Technical Center (MCC&TC) will once again open The Bistro at MCC&TC for evening hours.
The Bistro will be open from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays now through July 10. The restaurant serves as an opportunity for students in the program to gain experience operating a restaurant. For more information contact the Adult Career Center at 330-729-4100.
Mall holding Beautiful Baby Contest
ALLIANCE - Carnation City Mall is holding a Beautiful Baby Contest at 1 p.m. July 13 in Center Court. There is no entry fee for the contest which has two categories: beachwear and dress up. The age divisions are 6-12 months, 13-24 months and 25-38 months. Prizes include mall gift certificates, photo packages, trophies, etc.
