Granddaughter of EP couple headed to majorette contest

Nicola Colucy, 19, granddaughter of Jerry and Evelyn Bailey of East Palestine, is heading to Notre Dame University on Monday, July 21 to represent Eastern Illinois University and her hometown of Bolingbrook, Ill., as the current 2014 Intermediate Miss Majorette of Illinois, Illinois State Champion and Midwest Regional Champion in the NBTA National Baton Twirling Championships. Colucy will be a sophomore at Eastern Illinois University, a kinesiology and sports studies major and the feature twirler for the Panther Marching Band for her second year this fall. In addition to practicing her twirling routines daily, she is a swim instructor and lifeguard at Pelican Harbor, a part-time summer student at Joliet Junior College, and an assistant coach for the Twirling Twisters Baton Corp in Arlington Heights, Ill.
