August 4, 2014
Salem News

From left, Salem High School Class of 2016 members Amanda Valiente, Paige Johnson and Sarai Bodine process some of the shoes collected during the Shoe Fly By event held Sunday in the Family Video parking lot. So far the class has collected more than 7,000 pairs of shoes to help people in impoverished countries and raise funds for the 2015 prom and after prom. The goal is 15,000 pairs of shoes by Oct. 31. Shoes can be dropped off at multiple sites in Salem, including Family Video, Shoe Sensation, the UPS Store, Supplement Station, Muffler Man and Little Red Hen, Salem Computer Center, Salem Community Center and Salem High School. Other collection points are available in Salineville, Boardman, Alliance, Columbiana and East Liverpool. Organizing parents said they are thankful the community's support.
