'Chicken on the Run' served

SALEM - "Chicken on the Run" drive-thru chicken dinners will be sold from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church, 244 S. Broadway Ave.
The dinner includes a stuffed chicken breast, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans and a brownie. Cost is $7.

host 'Back to School Carnival'
SALEM - A "Back to School Carnival" will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Southeast Friends Church, 1300 Franklin Ave.
The event offers games and refreshments and also a school supply giveaway (until supplies run out.)

National Senior Citizens Day will be celebrated from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This free event for all senior citizens features a health fair, farmers market, vendor tables, gift baskets, prizes and a luncheon.

Free viewing of 'We Ride
to DC' will be shown Friday
EAST PALESTINE - A viewing of Michael Lynch's film, "We Ride to DC," will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Uncle Sam's Tavern. Admission is free to the public.
Lynch is currently creating a film titled "Money for Nothing."
The documentary takes a hard look at America's entitlement system and how it negatively impacts the American worker.

Damascus Ruritan car show
is Aug. 15 at church lot
DAMASCUS - The Damascus Ruritan car show is slated from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Friends Church North Parking Lot at the intersection of State Route 62 and 534 in Damascus.
Admission to car owners is one non-perishable food item or a monetary donation, which will be given to the Damascus Friends Church Food Pantry. The public is invited to attend, free of charge. Refreshments, including hot roast beef sandwiches, potato chips, iced tea and water, will be served in the church. West Branch Area Ladies Ruritan Club will sell baked goods.
On the same day, from 4 to 8 p.m., the Damascus Garden Club will hold a flower show at the Pearce House Museum on U.S. Route 62 next door to Damascus Hardware. The theme is " Seasons of the Heart" with a variety of floral arrangements displayed in numerous room within the museum.

SALEM-A public breakfast buffet will be served from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Aug. 23 at the Salem Masonic Building, 788 E. State St. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children under age 10 and free for children under 2.
The menu offers pancakes, waffles, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade sausage gravy, biscuits, homefries, toast, fruit cocktail, orange juice, coffee and tea.
The building is equipped with a handicapped accessible elevator. Proceeds will be directed to the Salem Masonic Building Fund.
