As many know, we just got back from a trans Atlantic and it was great. There are bad captains, most probably, in any cruise line...but It's probablt going to happen when people are involved.
I will go on more...the next to Russia, next year.
MaxxJedi, I second that. We both got to go on exotic cruises without paying a dime, courtesy of Uncle Sam. Although I'll add that my second ship did ground itself on a sand berm a few months after I left. DOHHHH. Another Captain that can kiss Admiral good bye.
Block Cruising is about one of the most reasonable vacations you can take considering what you get. All your meals, lodging, entertainment, and transportation to some of the most beautiful places on earth. I have been on several cruises on about 4 or 5 different cruise lines and I don't remember any of them being filthy or even close to it. Most of them were very very clean. People get killed everyday driving cars is that going to stop anyone from riding on the roadways? don't think so.
We used to go on cruises years ago when and it was fun, but they were small ships with less than 1000 people on board. Now I'm not so sure I'd want to be on a mega "floating hotel".
Still the problem seems to be that there's not protocol in place to tell the crew to tell the passengers what to do in case of emergency. They don't want to "panic" the passengers, but don't you think they should err on the side of caution?

We've been on a dozen cruises and not found one to be a filthy rat trap or feel like sardines. I really believe they are great vacations.

But was this Captain sober at the time??? Some people don't need an intoxicant to do things such as this.
Everyone knows how I would comment on this one. Can anyone say Captain "Sully" Sullenburger ??? Did I spell his name right ???
A modern day American proverb says : At any rate take a life boat the first time then you will have no trouble finding it when you need it the most.
