"-- Asia. According to a 2006 Amnesty International Report, China has provided arms to countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Chinese assault weapons and Korean explosives have been recovered in Mexico.

-- The Mexican Army. More than 150,000 soldiers deserted in the last six years, according to Mexican Congressman Robert Badillo. Many took their weapons with them, including the standard issue M-16 assault rifle made in Belgium.

-- Guatemala. U.S. intelligence agencies say traffickers move immigrants, stolen cars, guns and drugs, including most of America's cocaine, along the porous Mexican-Guatemalan border. On March 27, La Hora, a Guatemalan newspaper, reported that police seized 500 grenades and a load of AK-47s on the border. Police say the cache was transported by a Mexican drug cartel operating out of Ixcan, a border town."

"So, if not from the U.S., where do they come from? There are a variety of sources:

-- The Black Market. Mexico is a virtual arms bazaar, with fragmentation grenades from South Korea, AK-47s from China, and shoulder-fired rocket launchers from Spain, Israel and former Soviet bloc manufacturers.

-- Russian crime organizations. Interpol says Russian Mafia groups such as Poldolskaya and Moscow-based Solntsevskaya are actively trafficking drugs and arms in Mexico.

- South America. During the late 1990s, the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) established a clandestine arms smuggling and drug trafficking partnership with the Tijuana cartel, according to the Federal Research Division report from the Library of Congress."

Some facts on US guns in Mexico (also known as fear-mongering to some here):

"There's just one problem with the 90 percent "statistic" and it's a big one:

It's just not true.

In fact, it's not even close. The fact is, only 17 percent of guns found at Mexican crime scenes have been traced to the U.S.

What's true, an ATF spokeswoman told FOXNews****, in a clarification of the statistic used by her own agency's assistant director, "is that over 90 percent of the traced firearms originate from the U.S."

But a large percentage of the guns recovered in Mexico do not get sent back to the U.S. for tracing, because it is obvious from their markings that they do not come from the U.S."

Agreed, rpm. Very few of the guns were sold in the US to people who took them over the border. Most of the weapons came up from the south, or the weapons you speak of.

That's not what Obama was talking about, though. He was making it sound like civilian American gun dealers were supplying the cartels, which is another ObamaLie.

notSocialist, also there have been numerous U.S. military arms that have also been recovered from the cartels. The U.S. gave the Mexican government use of the arms (machine guns, grenade launchers, etc...stuff not normally available to civilians) to fight the cartels but somehow the cartels ended up with possession of them.

"I will continue to do everything in my power to pass common-sense reforms that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people."

He should have added: "Except when I sell them to your drug dealers and allow them to pass in to your country, so we can have mass shootings and I can push for even more gun control laws that I won't enforce."

What a hypocrite! He must think we have very short memories.

Speaking of not learning your lesson, here's Obama again:

""Most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States," President Obama said during a speech at Mexico's Anthropology Museum. "I think many of you know that in America, our Constitution guarantees our individual right to bear arms. And as president, I swore an oath to uphold that right, and I always will."

"But at the same time, as I’ve said in the United States, I will continue to do everything in my power to pass common-sense reforms that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people. That can save lives here in Mexico and back home in the United States. It’s the right thing to do," Obama added."

Fast and Furious redux, anyone?

Don't we classify IED's as WMD's now? So how can you say there weren't any in Iraq? Not that I support the Iraq war, because I don't. I'm just looking for some consistency and truth.

Stay out of Syria. We can't afford it, period. We have no business being the policemen of the world either. Don't fool yourself we never do it to be humanitarians, only when we have some economic interest in mind. If you think we're just humanitarian policemen of the world, explain Rwanda. Anyways, haven't we learned the dangers of funding terrorists? We vow to fight it in any corner of the globe but we support it in some corners...not like that has ever come back to bite is or anything. The military industrial complex is out of control just like Eisenhower told us it would be.

Here is another Kozy:

Authorized King James version John 1:1-4 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men."

There are many false gods in the world but only one creator.

"Well, if you had been watching the news lately...he does. And one of the defectors told investigators that Iraq's WMD were shipped to Syria just prior to our bombing but the news will not report that. "

Don't try to confuse the drones with facts, Kozy. They don't care.

... Also worrisome, said two of the officials, is intelligence from late last year that says the Syrian Scientific Research Center—an entity responsible for Syria’s chemical-weapons stockpile—has begun to train irregular militias loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in how to use the chemical munitions.

The assessment that Syria is moving large amounts of its chemical weapons around the country on trucks means that if Obama wanted to send in U.S. soldiers to secure Syria’s stockpiles, his top generals and intelligence analysts doubt such a mission would have much success, according to the three officials
