Oh well concerned...some are so uninformed that it's their only way to speak. I wish the Salem News would removed the agree/disagree. It would be allow for better debate.

phoenix I have had probably 5 different garbage companies in the last 20 years. None of them has ever charged me anything extra for picking up anything(legally allowed items) that I have put out for them. If it is a large piece of furniture they do like advance notice but there is no extra charge. Even if they did charge I believe it is my responsibility to dispose of my junk not my fellow taxpayers. The last time the city had a clean up they had a hard time even finding a garbage company to do it. Large numbers of large items thrown into a garbage truck at the same time is very hard on the trucks. that is probably one of the reasons why some companies are not interested in the job.

Concerned, I'm not one of your disagrees, but the comment you posted under the question, Are you in favor of a citywide cleanup in Salem this year?", may have led some people to believe that you are not. Perhaps that is what they were disagreeing with and not your awesome garbage service. Mine only allows one garbage can, provided by the company, and one extra bag a week, anything else not only costs extra but requires two weeks notification.

concerned, they don't care about the content of the comment. All they look at is who made the comment. From there, "agreeing" or "disagreeing" is equated to "liking" you or "disliking" you. The decision is based more on emotion rather than substance just like the decisions that get made during an election. Although you had four disagrees, some of us are suspecting that there is a commentor on here that has at least three different personalities, so its possible that only two persons were actually responsible for "disliking" you. You can intelligently disagree with opinion but you cannot intelligently disagree with fact.

4 disagrees on my first statement. Hmm I wonder what part of what I said they disagree with??? Are they doubting I put the stuff out for the garbage manor that they don't charge me extra or that the city don't get a bill for it?? Well it is all true so disagree all you like it is not going to change the facts!!!

No and you can't put them out for a citywide clean up either. They need to be recycled. I believe their is a tire recycling day. But why do you have old tires to start with? When you buy new ones they will usually take the old ones off your hands.

I PUT MY UNWANTED ITEMS OUT FOR THE GARBAGE MAN TO PICK UP EVERY WEEK. THEY DON'T CHARGE ME ANY EXTRA AND THE TAXPAYERS DON'T HAVE TO PAY A DIME FOR THE SERVICE EITHER.
