I hope not...threats after threats with a final giving in to more and more debt. It has to be stopped and now may be the time already!

I wouldn't hold my breath Kozy. You know those faux conservatives in Washington will just compromise while they put on a dog and pony show to make us think they have tried their best. The liberals love compromise they ask for the sun, moon and stars but are willing to settle for the sun and a few stars as we slip closer and closer into becoming a hard core socialist state. They know they will get the moon and the rest of the stars on a later compromise. Look how far our nation has slipped in the last 75 years from political compromise. I predict they will reach an 11 hour agreement and then they will all lock arms and sing Kumbaya and brag about the bi-partisan agreement they have came to as they put us deeper into debt.

There shouldn't be any compromise.
This is stuff that should have been settled months ago.
The sequester, debt ceiling and spending bill has been on the back burner for a yr.
This putting things off till the last minute and making a typical childs game out of it is BS.
Time to take away the keys to their kitty cars and eliminate play ground privilages

Along with a doz. other issues.
They have a post office on the verge of running out of money.Because congress won't let them make changes.

I have no idea what will happen, but the conversation around this is so twisted it's unreal. The average citizen is stupid if they believe the narrative that Republicans are trying to shut down the government. Obama has said he'll veto anything that doesn't include funding for Obamacare and that Repubs are threatening shut down in the same breath. It's unreal that some people believe that. Harry Reid is going to play political games and change the rules so that the Senate can pass the House bill but include funding for Obamacare. You'd think if it goes back to the house the vote would go the same way and that wouldn't get passed. Then who knows, could be looking at a shutdown. I'm rooting for shutdown. I literally long for the day that the federal government ceases operations for a week and the vast majority of Americans notice that hardly anything changes.

All I know is that I'm unwilling to support ANYTHING that is brought to us from a guy who says raising the debt ceiling doesn't raise the debt and says the average voter just doesn't understand. What an unbelievable slap in the face. It's a factual statement, so he knows he can make it without a ton of backlash, but it's a statement that clearly omits that we're doing it because other things ARE increasing the debt. Not to mention is completely contradicts the statements he made when he was a senator about raising the debt ceiling. In fact, he's taken basically the EXACT opposite stance. He's right that the average voter doesn't understand what's going on because he realizes the average voter believes the BS he's spewing.
If the approval rating polls on Congress and the Pres are correct, then how many people are really scared of a government shutdown?
Also, if you have a problem with not funding Obamacare then please give me a detailed argument in support. Not because you "owe it to me", but because I don't believe you can. One of the authors calls it a train wreck. The healthcare industry largely thinks it's a disaster. The business word has already proven it to be a disaster. The socialists who passed it won't be part of it. Harry Reid basically said it's only goal is to destroy the system enough to create an environment where people are begging for single payer. So please tell me why it's a good law and why we should fund it's implementation and for parts of it it's delayed implementation.

Have you heard the recent news from the Cleveland Clinic? I wonder how anyone can support Sherrod Brown after he doesn't stand by one of the biggest (and maybe the biggest, I don't really know) employers in his state, as he surely won't.
The Cleveland Clinic is the big one getting noticed. I have heard from employees at other much smaller places they are being given warnings in round about ways that big budget cuts may be coming. Soon enough, we will all get to see the outcome of this thing, just like Nancy promised.

I agree, Grant...somehow we the people need to stop the Washington madness. A shutdown might make people wake up and take notice...of course the media will just blame the good guys who want to stop spending and call them mean and ugly names and they will shutter and give in. It always looks the same, doesn't it and we the people always lose!
NS Of course Pelosi would say there is nothing to cut. In her mind there is only more spending to do. : )
I hear a lot of liberals talk about cutting spending and getting the deficit under control...so why are they still voting for these people?
B/C far too many call themselves liberals who are really registered democrats who don't want a republican to win anything, even if it hurts the country. And, in many elections...very little choice between those running. And then you have those shuffled in the mix who just make angry comments and then go hide, leaving a bad feeling about even the good candidates.
So, far too many who do vote, just keep voting for the incumbent.
Yes they will this is another Dog and Pony show. They on both sides are just actors that can not do anything else for a living.
