One of the most memorable moments from the government shutdown was when Republican congressman Randy Neugebauer angrily confronted a park service ranger at the World War II memorial and scolded her for not letting people in, even though it was Congress that really triggered the shutdown. Now that the shutdown is over, Neugebauer has apologized for his behavior in a letter to the National Parks Service.

"Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Tex.) last Wednesday confronted a female park ranger and told her she should be ashamed for doing her job."
Good for him! I am ashamed of them, too.
By the way, 3d, how much is the DNC paying you?
It was a half truth, beaumont. You said they got to see it, yes, but not that they were barred, and took things into their own hands.
It is also typical of the lamestream media to focus on one fruitcake instead of the thousands of others.

Half truth, I said they got to see memorial. With no help from the jerk off with the stars and bars flag, he could not find his little yellow flag. Oh by the way how is the right wing BS working out for you?

Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Tex.) last Wednesday confronted a female park ranger and told her she should be ashamed for doing her job. This is a perfect example of the tea party. They engineer a shutdown and then go out and look for a photo-op. This must be a really proud moment for those of you who support the GOP's shutdown of the Government.

"Questioner, nothing I posted was about WWII vets, they got to see the memorial. "
Only because they pushed through the barricades erected to keep them out.
Good half-truth, beaumont.

Questioner, nothing I posted was about WWII vets, they got to see the memorial. My Grandfather wounded in WWI, Father in WWII and I in Vietnam. The vets in the march were with cruz and some may have not been vets. You don't need a yellow flag to stand up for yourself. Let them take away your VA comp and you will see something.

Beaumont, some of these vets were on free trips (not sure who sponsored them, the VA?). These trips were set up way ahead of time to that before they died the WW2 vets could see the monument. So they left whatever state they were from a couple days earlier, got to DC, some in wheelchairs, in a once-in-an-end-of-a-lifetime trip, and you tell them "Take your little yellow flags and go home or back to the bars."
My Dad from WI was supposed to be one of them there, but he said they should give his seat to someone less able to travel than he is.
"Take your little yellow flags and go home"--I don't normally swear but you make me feel inclined to tell them to take their little yellow flags and stick them somewhere up in Beaumont.

A little confused :
The senate moves in a bi-partisan to come with a deal
The house comes up with a republican way to solve the same problem
I thought it took 2 sides to neg. ?
"If it's an outdoor memorial that costs nothing to just walk up to it, it's never closed."
It's costing more to 'police' them now, just to harass the citizens. What a joke.

Fairness what a joke we lost but won. Screw us!
The question shouldn't be how do we fix this anymore. The question should be how prepared are you for an economic collapse the likes of which none of us have ever seen anything close to? It doesn't have to be an apocalyptic scenario, that will be determined by how people handle it. But it's coming. There is simply too much debt. Not to say they can't keep the ball rolling for awhile longer, years even, but I'm pretty sure we passed the point of no return a long time ago. I don't see our financial problems ever being solved without a correction that causes us to have to start from scratch.

The Quote of the Decade: "The fact that we are here today to debate raisingAmerica's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. IncreasingAmerica's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, 'the buck stops here.' Instead,Washingtonis shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. Americahas a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better." ~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

Again SO !
A small % percentage chose the path
I hear no mention of the nations parks being closed. Which is costing lost revenues of over $ 400 million/day
Other part of gov that could cause delays in benefits,
The list goes on.
How dare you tell Vets to "grow up"?! Well I did! Most have, some will not.
No ! By taking the Ryan plan and The senate plan and setting down and coming up with a plan to address both issues.
Waiting till mid. of Sept was nothing but a game to force concessions instead of the grown up way of negioateing.
How am I supposed to answer those questions? 5% of the population approve of the job Congress is doing, you think I'm in that 5%?? Hint: I'm not. The fact remains, during the shutdown, these decisions of what is shutdown are coming straight from the White House. Open air memorials that are typically unguarded and free to enjoy 24/7 are now barricaded at closed. Straight from the President. Park rangers telling the press they've been ordered to "make the shutdown as painful as possible"...straight from the White House. Straight from the man who once said that raising the debt ceiling is a failure of leadership, something I agree with. There is no doubt that this entire thing is the fault of both parties and it isn't a new problem. It's been building for decades. How would this mess have been resolved in the spring? By raising the debt ceiling then? That IS kicking the can down the road...

They all left Washington for 6 weeks knowing this was coming up
Then they came back and declared there wasn't enough time to negotiate a long tern spending bill.
