As long as the employee was made aware of the company policy prohibiting staff from carrying firearms before the attempted robbery took place, the company was justified in firing the employee. As is true in most cases, the end does not justify the means. I respect the right to bear arms and I myself have a conceal carry permit. I also respect the rights of business owners who post signs saying that they do not permit me to carry a concealed weapon on their property.

I respect the sign too, and take my money elsewhere to spend.

I'm not sure we have enough facts but I think that a suspension would be appropriate in that the company could "cya" as to forbidding firearms to avoid liability and still keep the employee. That said, if the employee was a "problem" this provides the perfect opportunity to get his butt out of the store.

No, I DO NOT support this firing, because I don't support the policy. A policy that has now publicly engendered all Shell convenience store employees. Another employee of that same store has now quit and others are following suit and I do not blame them at all. This is a travesty by Nouria Energy.

Why would anyone in their right mind after this man’s firing and the public announcement Nouria Energy made to protect their butts support them or their policy? Those statements are now endangering all Shell employees and opening the doors to future crime and unsafe working conditions. That employer just announced to all criminals by their own public statements and admissions. “Our employee's work at their own risk, they have been instructed by policy "that they have no right to protect their lives, this is a guaranteed gun free zone and you can now safely enter our stores...

...you have an open door to commit your crimes, and we have not taken steps to ensure their safety and we do not have armed security to protect them. They are ordered by policy to endure you’re traumatizing and dangerous behavior and threats. All employees have been ordered by policy to “give you what you want" when you hold up the store. Come steal whatever you desire. The taxpayers do not mind enduring those high insurance increases in their community and the extravagant costs YOUR behavior inflicts with your DEFENSE if you are apprehended. We do not support the words…”DETER CRIME”. Thus…gun free zone.

No minimum wage job is worth their lives, and those types of work conditions and a company that opens doors to criminals and inflicts consequences on the taxpayers.

Rethink your position people.

Whizkid, this employee had worked for this Shell store for 10 years. He is loved by his community. He was known to take money from his own pocket to cover somebody's purchase in they were short at check out.

What nobody knows is that there had been a rash of convenience store robberies taking place in this town. Another Shell employee, three weeks prior to this incident died at the hands of a criminal who held up another Shell store in a city next to this one.

These stories are being withheld by Obama's mainstream media, it doesn't coincide with his agenda.

The robber hand a knife,

What would have happened if he had a shot gun.

Not worth losing ones life over a little money.

Congress has a 5 % rating and the repubs today have a 28% the lowest ever since the start of polling,

The tea buggers have a 21 %rating.

For the same reasons ladybug you chose. In how you instantly IGNORED everything in those posts except to DEFEND Obama who started this irresponsible rhetoric with this no common sense assault on the second amendment that is now opening up all these ridiculous gun policies. You know what ladybug? It has to stop. That can be done when Obama stops this madness instead of encouraging it. You are right, that irresponsible, self destructing fuel company has every right to establish their own IRRESPONSIBLE policies. Just like it is my right to scream at them for ENDANGERING these employees.

This gun control rhetoric is out of control.

One more thing ladybug, unlike you, I don't listen to what they are telling me, I look at what they are not telling us. Starting with...stop relying on the diseased news media that is nothing more than part of the biggest problem this country faces.

Do yourself a favor ladybug...DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK. The Internet Highway is the most useful tool to the TRUTH.

Ladybug there has to come a point in time where common sense has to start reining in all this.

Did you really read and consider what your wrote?

"Like I said 100 % back ground check or none at all ,address the mental issue, more police and finally reduce clip size to 30.If you need more than that your a*****poor shot"

Why are you so for punishing law abiding citizens? Backgrounds check would not have stopped ANY of the mass shootings.

Mental evaluations prior to a gun purchase will not stop these people. That nut job can be as sane as you or I the day they buy it and within months of owing that gun, still commit this crime. That mental evaluation crap is a WASTE.

Ladybug? I beg you to tell me, how an actual amount of bullets is going to make criminals ABIDE by those numbers?

Obama's rating was 43 % Duh !!!!!

LIAR. Jay Carney already confirmed and acknowledged that Obama's approval rating was 37% and he passed the buck off as if the Shutdown had brought those numbers on.

Now do you believe Fox news or Carney?
