Last month, the U.S. produced more oil that we import. Think the oil companies will try to export it to keep prices higher?

Yes, the Oil Companies will export the Oil. That is why we need regulations in place before the Keystone Pipeline is built that place a very heavy tax on any oil exported from our shores. The only reason the Oil Companies ever wanted to build the Keystone pipeline is so they could use our own southern ports to export our oil resources.

They're certainly not going to do anything to keep the prices DOWN

While I don't disagree with the sentiments made thus far in the comments for this poll, I do have to say, those "evil oil companies" (who employ and handsomely pay thousands of employees) don't really generate a lot of profit on a gallon of fuel. The government brings in quite a bit more money. Bad bureaucratic policy is much more to blame for higher fuel prices than those "evil oil companies".

GrantMingus, That is why the Oil companies sold off their refineries. The Oil Companies still make a very nice chunk of change on Oil sales.

Exxon Mobil made 41 billion in profits in 2012.

Small lump of change.

It the service station operators who struggle with pennies on the gal.
