Leopards give Quakers a hard time
LOUISVILLE – Salem dug itself into a hole it couldn’t get out of it.
The Quakers trailed 34-0 in the third quarter, made a late push, but failed to make a successful comeback as Salem (2-2) fell 41-28 to Louisville (4-0) on Friday.
Salem entered the fourth quarter losing 34-6 when the Quakers decided to make a late push. After a 14-yard run from Louisville’s Connor Zwick gave Louisville a 41-6 lead, the Quakers scored three straight touchdowns to make things interesting late. Louisville, however, would hold on for their fourth straight win of the season
Matthew Weingart threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns, while adding a rushing touchdown for the Quakers.
Haeden Panezott rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. Marcus Crittendon had five receptions for 111 yards and a touchdown. Mike Popa added 81 yards and a score on four catches.
Salem begins Northeastern Buckeye Conference play when the Quakers visit Alliance next week.
