All-Ohio honors follow several area soccer players

Several area soccer players earned All-Ohio honors as voted on by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association recently.

West Branch junior midfielder Alec Schopfer secured a first team spot on the Div. II boys list. Minerva senior Tyler Stewart scored 36 goals and had three assists on his way to a Div. II second team honor.

Salem junior forward Marissa Swindell scored 42 goals and had 12 assists as she captured Div. II second team honors. Minerva senior forward Lauren Haynam scored 22 goals and recorded four assists as she was also named to the second team in Div. II.

Crestview senior forward Greg Bable led his team to a 13-3-1 record and nabbed first team honors in Div. III. South Range junior midfielder Cole Durina also represented the Inter-Tri County League with second team honors in Div. III. East Palestine senior defender Ryan Henderson also was a Div. III second team selection.

On the Div. III girls side, United senior midfielder Mackenzie Gatchel scored 23 goals and had 20 assists to lead her to a first team honor.
