West Branch girls roll past Salem

SALEM – The West Branch girls basketball team was in complete control of Salem as the Warriors cruised to a 57-24 win on Saturday.

The defense of the Warriors was so powerful that it held the Quakers to just one point in the first quarter and its equally dominant offense set the tone with Melinda Trimmer, who led with 16 points. Pavin Heath and Taryn Hahn each scored nine.

The Quakers were just about defenseless in the first quarter giving up 21 points, and even though they outscored the Warriors in the second quarter, the Quakers still trailed 23-4 at the half.

Julia Dundon led the Quakers with 10 points, and Megan Lehwald netted seven.

The Quakers won the junior varsity game 44-33.

Leah Menegos led the Quakers with 17 points, while Paige Walsh shot for 11 for the Warriors.
