Warriors Trimmer, Heath named to All-Ohio team

COLUMBUS – West Branch can’t wait until next basketball season with All-Ohioans Melinda Trimmer and Pavin Heath coming back.

The two juniors were named to the 2013-14 Associated Press Division II All-Ohio girls basketball team released Monday.

Trimmer – who has verbally committed to Youngstown State University – is on the second team, while Heath received honorable mention for a second straight season.

Trimmer led the Warriors in scoring (17.8) and assists (7.0) for a third consecutive season.

She has scored 1,176 career points and has been named to the Northeastern Buckeye Conference first team three straight seasons.

Heath was the Warriors’ second-leading scorer, averaging 10.7 points a game.

They guided West Branch to a 23-5 season and their first district title since the 2004 state championship team.

West Branch is 67-11 in the three seasons with Trimmer and Heath in the lineup with three district final appearances.

East Liverpool junior Nikayla Edgell also received honorable mention.

Edgell, one of the area’s top scorers, averaged 18.8 points, 3.8 assists and 1.7 rebounds a game as the Potters finished with a 10-11 record.
