Wukotich fifth at nationals

LINCOLN, Neb. – Mount Union freshman and Salem High School graduate Zack Wukotich cleared 6-feet-8 1/2 to take fifth on Saturday at the NCAA Div. III Indoor Track and Field National Championships at the Devaney Sports Center.

Wukotich was the Ohio Division II state runner-up last year.

Trevor James of Carthage won the title Friday by clearing 7-feet-0 1/4.

Mount Union junior Tyler Mettille, a Canfield High School graduate, joined junior Chase Swisher and sophomores Chad Gentry and Tyler Sparks on the 1600-meter relay team that set a school record with a winning time of 3 minutes, 13.48 seconds on Saturday.

On Friday, Mettille placed 10th in the 400-meter dash (48.9).
