Warrior girls win Joe Lane Invite

MINERAL RIDGE – The West Branch girls track team once again dominated the Joe Lane Invitational on Saturday as the Warriors won the meet at Mineral Ridge High School for the second straight year.

Erin Carver stood out as the meet’s MVP, winning the 400-meter dash and the 1600 relay along with Rachel Carver, Calista Waters and Haley Davis, and placed second in the 100 and 200 dashes.

Rachel also placed second in the 3200 relay along with Waters, Davis and Lexington Pittman, and placed sixth in the 300 hurdles.

Davis placed third in the 1600 run and sixth in the 3200 run, while Waters placed third in the 800 run.

Also scoring for the Warriors were Sydney Diehl in the 100 hurdles, Karlie Williamson in the 100 dash and Hanna Sprowl in the 3200 run. The team also earned fifth place finishes in the 400 and 800 relays.

In field action, Bri Long helped the Warriors’ efforts with a victory in the high jump, while Lea Bock placed fifth in the shot put and sixth in discus and Rashele Whaley placed sixth in the long jump.

The girls return to action against Canton South on Tuesday.
