BASEBALL: Quakers head South

SALEM – Canton South relied on a nine-run fifth inning to knock out Salem 11-1 in five innings on Thursday.

Andrew Robbins and Noah Richards each had singles for the Quakers, while Jordan McGuire struck out five.

Columbiana 11, Southern 2

COLUMBIANA – Bryce Franken’s four RBIs along with Nate Garofalo’s two RBIs lifted Columbiana to an 11-2 victory over Southern on Thursday.

Garofalo also picked up the win as he struck out three.

Domanick Michael struck out one in his two innings for the Indians.

The Clippers host East Palestine on Monday.

EAST PALESTINE – Blaze Chamberlain had a single, double and three RBIs and Josh Fristik had a single and double as East Palestine beat Crestview 10-3 in an Inter-Tri County League upper tier game on Thursday.

East Palestine is 8-5, 7-3.

Riley Mackall went 2 for 3 for the Rebels, 6-9, 5-6.

East Palestine is at Neshannock today and at Springfield on Saturday.
