BASEBALL: Reserve shuts out Heartland

BERLIN CENTER-The Western Reserve baseball team readied itself for the tournament with a 11-0 win over Heartland in regular season play Tuesday.

Dan Rosati had two hits and three RBIs for the Blue Devils (14-5), while Zach Smith added a pair of RBIs.

Phil Bell and Caleb Sommers had the only two hits for the Lions.

Top-seeded Western Reserve will host either nine-seed Sebring or 10-seed Warren JFK in Div. IV sectional action on Friday.

Fourth-seeded Heartland hosts seventh-seed Lowelleville on Thursday.

LEETONIA – Devin Callahan drove in four runs with a double and two singles and Joey Hall added three hits in leading Leetonia past Lisbon, 12-10, in regular-season play Tuesday.

The Bears rallied with seven runs in the sixth inning.

For Lisbon, Marcus Nenichka had three hits and Colin Sweeney doubled and singled.

11th seeded Leetonia opens Div. IV sectional tournament play Thursday at eighth-seeded Southern. Fifth-seeded Lisbon hosts 12th seeded Columbiana today in Div. III sectional action.

EAST PALESTINE-Columbiana slugged its way past East Palestine 14-10 in regular season baseball action Tuesday.

Mitch Davidson was 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Clippers, while Keenan Green was 2 for 4 with four RBIs.

The Clippers exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning to seize the lead.

Columbiana-a 12 seed-is at fifth-seeded Lisbon today for a Div. III sectional opener.
