BASEBALL: Warriors slump to Falcons
AUSTINTOWN – West Branch struggled in Saturday’s regular season-ending doubleheader against Austintown Fitch, losing 10-0 and 8-1.
Dylan Greenawalt had the only hit for the Warriors in the first game as the Falcons picked up the 10-0 win in six innings. Jeff Vizzuso struck out three on the mound for the Warriors.
The Warriors also fell 8-1 in the second game as Jake Smith led with two singles and an RBI along with two hits from Ryan Adams, while Kyle Zeigler struck out five and walked two.
The Warriors finish the regular season at 12-10 overall, and 10-2 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference, and will host the winner of the Ravenna Southeast-Niles McKinley Division II sectional on Wednesday.

GREENFORD – Inter-Tri County League upper tier champion South Range had its way with Lisbon in Saturday’s doubleheader.
Tyler Baird struck out six and Tyler Rothbauer struck out two in the first game as the Raiders blanked the Blue Devils 6-0. Zack Thorpe led the with three RBIs, along with two hits from Greg Dunham.
Avery Andric had two hits for the Blue Devils, while Eric Walker struck out two and walked five.
A pair of RBIs from Bill Goodall lifted the Raiders to an 8-4 win in the second game. Greg Dunham also had two hits along with Josh Fromel, and Turner Curry picked up the win as he struck out five.
Colin Sweeney had two RBIs for the Blue Devils, while Jagr Groubert struck out four.
The Raiders, seeded third in the Division III Struthers sectional-district tournament, finish the season at 19-3 overall and 14-0 in the Inter-Tri County League upper tier, and return to action Thursday when they host the winner of the United-Campbell Memorial first round sectional.
The Blue Devils, meanwhile, will start their tournament action Wednesday as they host Columbiana in the first round. They are now 8-10 overall and 6-8 in the ITCL.

NEW MIDDLETOWN – Joe Wrask’s RBI single in the eighth inning allowed Dalton Donachie to score and give Springfield the 1-0 victory over East Palestine on Saturday.
Ryan Kohler and Mark Schuler both had two hits in the game for the Tigers (20-4, 11-3 ITCL upper tier), while James Hillyer picked up his first win this season as he struck out 15 and allowed just two hits.
Blaze Chamberlain and Chris Raley both had singles for the Bulldogs, while Justin Fristik struck out four.
Springfield, the top seed in the Division III Struthers sectional-district tournament, return to action Thursday as they host the Liberty-Crestview winner. The Bulldogs, will host Brookfield in the first round Wednesday.

Sebring at Western Reserve
BERLIN CENTER – Western Reserve held down Sebring in Saturday’s doubleheader.
In the first game, Wyatt Larimer struck out seven as the Blue Devils shut down the Trojans 12-2 in five innings. Walker Marlowe and Nick Allison both had a pair of RBIs.
John Clegg struck out 10 in the second game as the Blue Devils picked up the 11-1 victory. Clegg also had three RBIs along with a pair of RBIs from Evan Nesbitt and an RBI each from Marlowe and Larimer.
