Quakers narrowly fall to Alliance

ALLIANCE – Haley Carner hit two RBIs for Salem, but it wasn’t enough as Alliance picked up the 4-3 win on Tuesday in softball action.

Clara Janofa also contributed with two hits, along with a double each for Rylee Meals and Kristen Brown. Courtney Waters struck out three on the mound.

COLUMBIANA-Columbiana beat Lowellville 19-0 in softball action Tuesday.

Lauren Schlueter had a double, a single and two RBIs for the Clippers, while Madison Macklin had three singles and three RBIs.

Columbiana improves to 15-2 overall and 9-1 in the ITCL lower tier. Lowellville is 1-6.

BELOIT – Bailey McElwain had four hits including a double, triple and two singles with three RBIs in West Branch’s 8-7 win over Marlington in eight innings on Tuesday.

Jeni Stewart added four hits and an RBI.

West Branch is 12-3 and 8-2 in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference.

The Warriors face Girard Thursday at Springfield High School.

West Branch’s jayvee softball team beat Marlington 16-14 on Tuesday.

Ellie Elasivich and Whitney Wallace had three hits each for the winners, 12-1.

HANOVERTON -United’s Taylor John had two singles and a double in helping lead the Eagles over the Bulldogs 7-6 at home Tuesday.

MacKenzie Firth added two hits. Elle Smith had two hits and an RBI for the Eagles.

For the Bulldogs, Sydney Smith had four hits and three RBIs including a double.

United improves to 4-16 (3-7) and will be at Jackson Milton Thursday.

Alexys Brooks had two doubles and four RBIs for the Rebels (13-4, 5-3 ITCL upper tier), while Lindsey Balmenti had two doubles and two RBIs and Sarah Kohler had a double and an RBI.

Jackson-Milton falls to 6-9 overall and 3-6 in the ITCL upper tier.

Stevie Taylor and Taylor Helon led the way for the Raiders (16-4, 11-0) with three hits and two RBIs apiece.

Nikki Bovo led the Tigers with a triple and run scored.

South Range is at Lisbon today.

The Indians drop to 3-12, and head to Lowellville today.
