SOFTBALL: Blue Devils knock off Tigers

BERLIN CENTER – Gabby Stubbs had three hits, while Marley Oles pounded a double, two singles and an RBI as Western Reserve toppled Wellsville 15-0 in a Div. IV sectional final on Monday.

Alexis Miller added a single and triple for the Devils, 18-2. Western Reserve faces Columbiana at 4:30 p.m. today at Lisbon’s softball complex in a Div. IV district semifinal.

Sydney Miller added a two singles and two RBIs, while Maia Cormell had two singles. Kate Deal had a double and Tory White had two singles.

Antonia Lombardozzi had two singles for the Tigers.

BELOIT – Baily Byers went 4 for 4 with two doubles as West Branch beat Marlington 10-5 in a Div. II sectional final softball game on Monday.

Jeni Stewart and Sarah Weber each added three hits.

West Branch is 16-6 and is at Carrollton on Wednesday with a tournament game with Poland set for 5 p.m. on Thursday at Alliance High School.

HANOVERTON – Alexys Brooks had a home run, while Anna Hardenbrook and Sydni Davis each had doubles in Crestview’s 10-0 win over United in a regular season game on Monday.

United (4-21, 3-10 in the ITCL upper tier) got a double Mariah Eisenbraun.

The two teams are set to play at Crestview on Wednesday.

Canton South 3, Salem 1

SALEM – The Salem Quakers didn’t want senior night to end.

Canton South scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to get past Salem, 3-1, Monday.

Katie Uminski had two hits and an RBI for the Wildcats.

Salem scored one run in the first inning and couldn’t get anything more off of Makayla Loveless.

Salem’s Rylee Meals, Kari Seddon, Kristen Brown and Rylee Leider collected singles.

The Quakers finish the season with a 7-21 record.
