TENNIS: West Branch edges Lordstown

BELOIT – The West Branch tennis team swept the doubles matches to get past Lordstown, 3-2, Monday at West Branch High School.

West Branch improves to 12-5 overall and 6-1 in the Northeast Tennis League. The Warriors will compete in the Division II sectional tournament on Wednesday with singles at Struthers High School and doubles at Boardman High School.

FIRST SINGLES: Nick Johnson (L) def. Danny Schlueter, 7-6 (7-2), 6-1.

SECOND SINGLES: Tom Korda (WB) def. Jake Huth, 6-0, 6-0.

THIRD SINGLES: Jiryes Rafidi (L) def. Jeremy Truex, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.

FIRST DOUBLES: David Fether-Marshall Ney (WB) def. Alex Delacruz-Garrett Behner, 6-0, 6-1.

SECOND DOUBLES: Devin Wilson-Zach Minch (WB) def. Jim Behon-Joe Sekerak, 6-3, 6-2.
