Quaker girls blanked by Niles

NILES – Niles’ girls soccer team used a solid defense to slow down Salem in a 3-0 win on Saturday at Bo Rein Stadium.

Niles improved to 3-0 and has outscored opponents 12-2 in wins over Warren Harding, Hubbard and Salem.

Salem (1-1) hosts Howland at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at Reilly Stadium.

Minerva 5, United 1

HANOVERTON – Minerva’s boys soccer team got three goals from Tyler Stewart to cruise to a 5-1 win over United on Saturday.

United led 1-0 at the half on a goal by Andrew Martin.

Alec Mueller and Bailey Campbell had the other Lions (2-0) goals.

United is 1-1.

Columbiana 12, Lordstown 1

COLUMBIANA – The Columbiana girls soccer team rolled past Lordstown 12-1 on Saturday.

Scoring for the Clippers were Skye Kramer with five, Hannah O’Connor with four and one each for Kassady Murphy, Kaitlun Kerr and Rylee Pancake. Trista Anderson had seven saves in goal.

Lordstown’s goal was scored by Ashleigh Slaughbaugh.

On Monday, Columbiana travels to United Local to open its ITCL schedule.

West Branch 0

RAVENNA – West Branch’s boys soccer team dropped its first match of the season 2-0 to Ravenna on Saturday night.

West Branch is 1-1-1 and is at Marlington on Tuesday.

United 4, Minerva 1

HANOVERTON – United’s girls struck down Minerva 4-1 on Saturday.

United moves to 1-1 and hosts Columbiana at 5 p.m. on Monday.
